Let’s be real: vacations are supposed to be relaxing… but if you’ve ever spent three days in paradise waiting for nature to call, you know that travel constipation is very real.
Whether you’re road-tripping, flying, cruising, or just sleeping in a new bed, your gut can get shy. So why does this happen—and how can you stay regular traveling?
Your digestive system loves routine. And when travel throws everything off—your sleep, schedule, meals, hydration, and movement—your gut gets confused.
Common constipation culprits:
sitting for long hours (planes, trains, automobiles)
eating differently
not drinking enough water
holding it in (who prefers their own bathroom or at least not public bathrooms)
jet leg or disrupted sleep
travel stress or anxiety
Here are a few tips to keep your poo moving.
Hydrate (drink a little more if you are in a hot climate or drinking alcohol)
Carry fiber forward snacks (chia or flaxseed packets, roasted chickpeas, prunes)
Move your body (walk the airport, walk at rest stops or walk after dinner)
Try to stick your rhythm
DIs yo not ignore the urge
Don't wait until you are uncomfortable and bloated. Take notice to your diet and make changes that day.
